FTLT seeks to understand sports talk radio as a communicative practice by interviewing active, participating fans. Secondly, it documents terrestrial sports talk radio as a cultural phenomena.
Radio is an often over looked mass medium in contemporary culture. Some refer to it
as the “ugly step child” of media world. Experts continue to argue over the future of
terrestrial radio. A handful of scholars predict a rather grim outcome. While you can
not know the future of any mass medium, we can document and capture the role
terrestrial radio plays role in popular culture today.
