As the summer winds down, we begin an exciting new year at The Court.
For a few of you, this might be your last year in college. For others, this year is another step on your academic journey. Either way, it is time to head back to campus. Sorry, guys.
There are a few things I want you to keep in mind…
- Classes begin on Monday, August 25th. This means you should be prepared and ready to attend class this coming week! (I know, I know… Where did the summer go?)
- I’m adding to and changing my WordPress with specific information for Communication majors. You will notice information about the courses I am teaching this semester, information about the major including the required courses and electives (we have new classes), the course rotations for the next few semesters (available soon), a link to The Lion’s Tale Blog (GCU’s On-line news source for students), information about the Communication Honor Society (LPH), and a variety of other information you might need.
- With recent changes in the major and the addition of studio classes, we now have time to work in the Mac Lab. This means if you are taking classes with me this semester, we are going to spend time in class learning how to use the tools of mass media – WordPress, podcasting, Photoshop, and video editing. My hope is you will graduate knowing the theories of communication AND you will possess the skills required for successful careers in communication, journalism, social media marketing, and public relations.
I think great things are happening at the Court!
Although I will miss the fun and excitement of summer — I look forward to seeing you soon!
